Turmeric Benefits + Golden Milk Recipe
While it’s no secret, turmeric, with its health benefits has turned into a bit of a buzz word, it’s unlikely that you’ll find many people sipping it straight daily. This is why we’re excited to offer it in a way where you can! Our Turmeric Tea blended with various other flavourful spices is a sight to behold: bright, light and filled with big chunks of turmeric, ginger, liquorice root, cinnamon and lemongrass.
Turmeric (curcuma longa), like many spices, has been used traditionally as medicine for decades but it’s only in recent years that western science has begun to pay attention. What they have found however is truly astonishing, making turmeric, or more so the main active ingredient curcumin, perhaps one of the most effective nutritional supplements around.
According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information the compound curcumin found in turmeric is proven to have powerful anti-inflammatory effects and acts as a super strength antioxidant particularly when made bioavailable - more easily absorbed into your bloodstream.
Inflammation for one, can seriously impact your overall health. While inflammation in your body helps to fight foreign invaders and to repair damage, chronic long term inflammation attacks your body’s own tissues and can lead to health conditions and disease which is one reason this super food spice has people talking.
As well as having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, one study found that taking four grams of curcumin per day may reduce cancerous lesions by 40%. Other studies in arthritis and clinical depression have shown curcumin to be just as, or more effective than, anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant drugs like Prozac due to its ability to boost serotonin and dopamine in the brain.
In light of these exciting potential benefits we thought we’d share another delicious way you can enjoy our Turmeric Tea and get those turmeric and curcumin quotas up...
Try our Golden Milk Recipe served warm or on ice with the added activation of black pepper which helps to make the curcumin compound more absorbable.
